TCN Hai Phong - Dangtuan Language Center

The History of TCN Haiphong…a story of dedication & excellence

TCN is a premier children’s school nestled on the port city of Haiphong along the Northern part of Vietnam.

The name TCN stands for “ Trung tam Chuyen Ngu Dang Tuan “. The school is likewise popularly known as DTLC which is the shortened name for “Dang Tuan Language Center”.

The school traces its humble but rich history way back in 1995 when Mr. Dang Tuan taught a pioneer class of just 12 thirteen year old students however with a proven teaching quality, the class tremendously grew up to 200 students from 1995 to 2002.

In 2003, the number of students was already so enormous at 300 that Mr. Dang Tuan had to share the teaching load with Vietnamese teachers, thus prompting the establishment of the Center which, way back then was simply known as "The Center of Mr. Tuan - Trung tâm Thầy Tuấn". All the students had to learn at the house of Mr. Dang Tuan which at that time could no longer accommodate the fast growing number of classes. This led to the leasing of Trung Vuong Primary School for additional classrooms. Even then, this was not enough.

The unprecedented growth of the center paved the way for the construction of a modern and well equipped 8 floor building in 2006. The facility boasts of state of the art teaching equipments, classroom fixtures for teachers and students ranging from computers, LCD TV, internet connectivity, air-conditioning, projectors and similar teaching aids which are all meant for comfortable and efficient learning atmosphere.

By the fall of 2007, the Haiphong Education and Training Department granted license in favor of Mr. Dang Tuan and appointed him in charge of a program known as “ The basis of English Language Teaching”. After receiving numerous achievements and made vast development and progress, the Haiphong Education and Training Department accordingly licensed in July 2008" Trung tâm Chuyên Ngữ Đặng Tuấn (TCN) - DangTuan Language Center (DTLC)" .

This was a banner year for the Center because during the same period, it has breached the 400 student mark while receiving the license to employ foreign teachers.

From 2008 to 2010, DTLC has evolved and developed into the largest English School in Haiphong with over 800 students and a faculty of 30 foreign and Vietnamese teachers.

By the end of 2009, DTLC didn't have enough classrooms for all of its students and didn't have accommodations for foreign teachers, so DTLC built its second location at 2/79 Nghia Xa, (now changed to 2/79 Chợ Đôn Street) on a land of 650 m2.

In the summer of 2010, DTLC started a Program to provide Foreign Teachers to some public schools in Haiphong namely Hong Bang Secondary School, Nguyen Hue Primary School and Tran Hung Dao Primary School.

On January 1, 2011 DTLC completed the DTLC Campus on its second location  at Cho Don with 5 flats to accommodate 10 native teachers, 6 large and modern classrooms and 1 large hall. Since then, this has been the venue of all activities of the students in their pursuit of language learning.

As of April 2011, we have provided our native teachers to 11 public schools in Haiphong, namely:

High schools: 

Hong Bang, Thang Long, Marie Curie and  Hai An

Pre-High Schools: 

Truong Cong Dinh

Primary Schools: 

Nguyen Van To, Vo Thi Sau, Truong Cong Dinh, Nguyen Hue, Tran Hung Dao and Vinh Niem

At the end of the 2010-2011 school year, we proudly signed contracts with 9 other schools, 2 high schools, 2 pre-high schools, 3 primary schools and 2 kindergartens.

On June 2, 2011 we are opening "Mầm non Song Ngữ Misha - Misha Bilingual Kindergarten"which is our Bilingual Kindergarten School with the aim of developing it into one of the best kindergarten schools in Haiphong where kids can begin to speak English naturally.

After this new important period of development, we have decided to take our shortened Vietnamese name TCN Haiphong so that it can be easily remembered by both foreigners and Vietnamese.  

TCN / DTLC has just started its quest for more achievements and it shall always strive to provide the best education to our students.
